Nonstop snacking: homemade treats for road trips     

Hit the road with food to fuel your family’s vacation. Bring homemade snacks and meals; you’ll save money and you can keep on rolling. 

• Pack favorites from home: mozzarella sticks, salami sticks, baby carrots, celery sticks with peanut butter. (Squeezable peanut butter is a wise choice in the car.)

• Bring foods that are normally reserved for special treats: bagels or muffins with flavored cream cheese, banana muffins or brownies.

• Provide protein with ham rollups and pinwheels.

• Mini anything has maximum appeal. Buy those individual boxes of cereal; pack a small bottle of milk in the cooler. Muffins and brownies are cuter in the small sizes, too.
